"Life's not always fair. Sometimes you can get a splinter even sliding down a rainbow. ~ Cherralea Morgen
Each of us face adversity in our journey through life, but very few of us have faced the challenges Brandy has. Brandy was first diagnosed with breast cancer at 21 years old. She had to have a double mastectomy and total breast reconstructive surgery. Her cancer was in remission for several years after this, and in 2003 she married Jon Shrum, and gave birth to their handsome son, Addison. In 2005, her cancer came back with a vengence and she struggled through chemo and radiation once again. At this point, they learned her cancer was being produced through her hormornes and she would have to continue treatments for the rest of her life. The treatments were to prevent the cancer from growing back in her body, but less than 6 months ago Brandy learned her cancer has returned once again.
Anyone that knows Brandy at all, knows she is one of the most caring, outgoing, funny, charismatic and fun loving person you will ever meet. I was very blessed to have met her years ago right after highschool and I have loved her ever since. She is a friend you can depend on and one with whom you can guarantee to have a good time with. She is a mother to every child she meets, not just her own. She is a beautiful person in so many ways to so many people. If you were to ask any person in Gallatin about Brandy Newby, I guarantee they have a funny story to tell you. The most amazing thing about Brandy is her perseverance. Throughout her entire battle with cancer over the last 11 years, she has maintained her postitive attitude and outlook on life. She is an inspiration to all!
Brandy's friends and I ask that you please join us at Big Bang in downtown Nashville on February 6th, 2010 to help raise money for her. There will be a $10 cover in which all proceeds will go directly to Brandy and Jon. Big Bang will provide free appetizers and entertainment beginning at 6:30. You don't have to know Brandy to care about this cause, I implore you to invite everyone you know to attend this fundraiser. Let's spread the word, folks!
If you would like to make a personal donation directly to Brandy, please contact me. A special thanks to Holly for making this event happen.
Above all ... please remember Brandy, Jon, Addison and their family in your prayers. God is still in the healing business ... all things are possible through Him."
