Biography

Mike Clement began playing piano at the age of 6 and has continued to do so for the past 30 years. After moving from Miami, FL to Virginia to Washington, D.C., he finally settled in St. Louis, MO. where he began working the St. Louis scene for the next 5 years before he got hired by the Big Bang in April, 2002. In late 2003, the Big Bang expanded west to Tempe, AZ., and Mike went with them. He has been playing the hits ever since.

Clement has also established his original project called The Final, and they can be seen playing around the Phoenix area with a mix of funk, rock and jam. The Final's debut CD will be available this spring. For more info go to thefinalband.com.

Mike's primary influences include Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Billy Joel, Herbie Hancock, Phish, Earth, Wind and Fire, Prince, and the entire hair metal scene of the 80's, to name a few. After taking classical lessons for 7 years, Clement found it was easier and way more fun to learn the songs he liked by ear, so he quit piano lessons at age 14 and started developing his ear and improvisational skills. Mike has played in every type of band, from the country band Silverado in Michigan, to the improvisational St. Louis bands like Vitamen A and Diggler's Lounge, to playing raves with DJ Katscan, and recording tracks for countless bands and artists, which helps to make Mike one of the most versatile entertainers of the Big Bang.

Biography

Collin Freestone was born on a bean bag chair in Mesa, AZ, and as fate would have it, didn't actually start playing piano for another three whole years.

As the second of twelve kids, it was hard to escape musical influences in an already musical household. He began teaching himself the piano by ear by playing whatever he could hear on the radio. He someday hopes to learn to read music like a real musician ;)

Before the Big Bang Collin Freestone made a career as an entertainer playing piano, guitar, bass, drums, and singing for various bands anywhere from Las Vegas to Austin TX, and Phoenix to the Hawaiian Islands. He now resides accompanied by his beautiful wife and two awesome kids in the town he was born in, Mesa AZ, as he vigorously tries to squeeze some type of income out of his own originals songs. Which are amazing by the way.

To sum up, he's best known for his hip- hop & country music, though he maintains a strong passion for every genre. You can find him most nights in our Tempe Big Bang!

Biography

Matthew Hay-Roe was born in Canton, Ohio, and quickly attached himself to music at a young age. His preschool teacher had a piano, on which he was quick to master Chopsticks. He began formal lessons at age six and found the end-of-year performance to be his favorite part. He taught himself anything he could hear, and discovered his learn-by-ear ability, much to the frustration and amusement of his teachers.

At age eight Matt moved to Scottsdale with his family and continued lessons, and got his first paying gig at age fifteen. He began singing and performed at various high-school events, including his 2008 graduation. While in school Matthew became a member of the band Sixty Degrees North, which has gone on to open for Styx, Smash Mouth and the Doobie Brothers.

Matthew is currently continuing his Veterinary Science degree at the University of Arizona, and can be seen at the Big Bang in Tempe on weekends, rockin’ your favorite tunes, including any music you may have heard (including jingles and showtunes). His specialties include Journey, David Bowie, and Muse. Matt is glad to be a part of the staff, and honored to work with the most talented and hardworking musicians you’ll find anywhere!

Biography

Julie grew up in Granite City, Illinois (just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis) and started playing the piano at the early age of four. Her first experience as a young performer came from playing in church. Julie continued piano throughout her teen years and began playing drums in the high school band. Julie admits, "I was a total band dork, and loved every minute of it".

The Big Bang journey began for Julie shortly after the first club opened in 2001 in St. Louis, Missouri where she quickly became one of the club's most dynamic performers. In 2003 Julie moved to Tempe, Arizona to open Big Bang number two, where you can still catch her rockin' almost every night. She is also one of the Big Bang Entertainment Directors and a gifted trainer of new talent, with a unique perspective and a real passion for the Dueling Piano Concept.

Julie says she feels blessed to work with the Big Bang, and would like to “give a shout out to all my big brothers that have made me feel like a rock star in this gig...you know who you are! And no, Laura Saunders is not my sister so don’t ask...Later."

Biography

Ben grew up in the Midwestern states of Indiana and Illinois. He and his family moved to Arizona in the high school years. His parents had a lot to do with him getting involved in music at an early age. Ben's dad played the piano and guitar (the same four songs over and over!) and quickly showed him the ropes. He started playing piano at age 9 and then guitar at 12. Mom and Dad were always taking Ben to concerts, musicals and anything they could find to peak his interest in the arts. Luckily they listened to good music-Billy Joel, Elton John; dad was a big Steely Dan fan. Ben learned Piano Man at age 10 from dad's vinyl records-that's right vinyl!! He had to run back and forth from the record player to the piano about a 100 times to learn the solo. He sure could have used a CD player... Oh yeah, CDs weren't around yet! Ben studied piano at Indiana University for about two years. He then found that playing in a rock n' roll band seemed like more fun and then left IU and moved to Chicago. There he honed his skills as a performer and rock piano player. After a couple years in the band the usual rock n' roll thing happened-the band broke up and Ben moved home to Arizona where his family currently resides. He started working at the Big Bang in late 2006 and has loved it ever since. His biggest musical influences are The Beatles and Frank Zappa. Ben also has a great affinity for sports! Being from South Bend, IN he started going to Notre Dame football games at about age 5 and has since become a crazed ND fan that yells at the TV like an old man when they play! Although they haven't had success in over 100 years, Ben is also a big Chicago Cubs fan. He and Mikey C argue like a couple of chicks when they're playing the Cardinals throughout the season. Come to Tempe and watch the fireworks on stage!

Biography

Billy started piano lessons at age six and continued to study to be a classical concert pianist throughout his teenage years. From a musical family - his great, great grandfather was a member of John Phillip Sousa's band in the early 1900's - Billy played his first professional job at age 16 with his Uncle Dan Vece (who played professionally until the age of 100). He continued to study music at The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, the University of Connecticut, and the Berklee College of Music.

Boston, Massachusetts became Billy's home in the late 80's where performed almost every night, playing everything from Dixieland to Rock & Roll, R&B and Punk in many of Boston's bars and concert venues. Some of his bands included Billy and the Boys, The Incredible Dixieland Band, The Tall Boys, Blue Moon, B.O.M.B. (Boil On a Monkey's Butt), The Undertakers and The Ozone Rangers.

In the early 90's Billy got back to his roots and started rocking again on the grand piano at Jake Ivory's in Boston and West Bridgewater, MA. After leaving Boston in 1995 he performed at Howl at the Moon in San Antonio, Texas and Miami, Florida. In the fall of 2003 Billy moved to Arizona to help open The Big Bang Tempe, where he is the Entertainment Director as well as a featured performer. Because of his years of experience in almost every style of music, Billy rocks in a way that few people can - incorporating elements of Bach to Big Band to Bon Jovi, while sprinkling in generous amounts of unbridled humor in his energetic, spontaneous performances.
